Bonneville

New manifold is finished and will likely get tried in the Hilborn mechanical version at Bonneville. Anybody going there can see it if you can find a white 40ish Nash coupe in the pits. I hope it will perform better than carbs, but tuning expertise is in very short supply.

Ditto on the pictures, of the manifold and the car! I plan on being out there Monday or Tuesday, maybe both?

It has to go 136 mph or better to be worthy of pics. Posted a pic of the car it will be in if all goes right. It's a 1941 Nash coupe with a 276 inch Flathead run by Arden Beale out of Idaho Falls. He probably won't get there until the 14th.

I've been following the intake build pics, and must say it looks pretty mean, eager to see more in-car pics :) Hopefully all that work will pay off with some good times.

I just heard Rick Yaocucci's car was protested and/or disqualified for using a French block. Any truth to that? I knew French blocks weren't allowed by SCTA, but I didn't know they had used one.

Hi Jim. First, using a French Flathead ain't Jimmy's style. Also, I've seen the inside of that motor plenty and it sure doesn't look like a french one. I spent a lot of time in their pit and never heard that rumor. Wayno

The reason the team could not make the back-up run was water leaking into the exhaust ports. They burned a piston, got that fixed in impound, discovered the water leak in the morning. They tried some repairs, but could not re-qualify.

Jim, I enjoyed your report from Speedweek 2009. The car & motor are the same for 2010, with the turbo implemented and a new wrap. Who in the world would start a rumor of a French Block?? - maybe a Ron Main fan!!

Jimmy Stevens has repaired the block, the team will run at El Mirage unblown, then return to the salt for another attempt at the record in October.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I have to remember who I heard it from and set them straight. Man, what a pretty new paint job on that car!
